A respected building services consultancy based in Fareham is looking to bring on a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. This is a great opportunity for someone with a few years’ experience who’s ready to take on more responsibility and grow into a senior role.
You’ll be working on a wide range of projects across sectors including residential, commercial, education, and healthcare—supporting innovative, sustainable mechanical design solutions from concept to handover.
Key Responsibilities
Develop detailed mechanical designs for HVAC, ventilation, hot & cold-water systems, and plantroom layouts
Produce calculations, reports, and specifications in line with UK standards and client requirements
Prepare and amend design drawings using AutoCAD and/or Revit
Attend and contribute to design meetings with clients, contractors, and internal teams
Assist in site inspections and technical assessments
Coordinate with other disciplines to deliver integrated MEP designs
Keep up to date with relevant regulations, industry best practices, and low-carbon technologies
Candidate Requirements
Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering
2–5 years’ experience in mechanical building services design (consultancy or contractor background)
Proficient in design software such as Hevacomp, IES, AutoCAD, and ideally some Revit exposure
Solid understanding of UK building regulations and CIBSE design guidance
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ambition to progress toward Senior Engineer and Chartered status
