A well-established planning and design consultancy who are looking to bring in an experienced Planning Consultant or Senior Town Planner to join their growing team.
The business has a strong reputation within the development sector and works across a wide range of projects including residential, commercial and public sector schemes, supporting clients from early site appraisals through to securing planning permission and beyond.
This role would suit someone who is confident managing their own projects, enjoys client interaction and is comfortable working across a variety of planning work including applications, appeals and site promotion. You’ll be given real responsibility from the outset and the opportunity to take schemes through the full planning lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Researching site planning histories, environmental designations, planning policies.
- Undertaking site visits.
- Performing day-to-day liaison with clients.
- Performing day-to-day liaison with project teams, e.g. architects, engineers, ecologists, etc.
- Performing day-to-day liaison with Local Planning Authorities and consultees.
- Making arrangements for project meetings and writing up notes of meetings if necessary.
- Compiling and reviewing drawings, reports, etc. received from clients and project teams.
- Writing Planning Appraisals, Planning Statements and other reports.
- Completing planning application forms.
- Compiling and submitting planning applications.
- Monitoring consultation responses to planning applications and actioning with clients and project teams.
- Negotiating S106 planning obligations.
- Checking planning decision notices / conditions against submitted plans.
- Compiling and submitting planning condition and obligation discharge applications.
- Monitoring planning condition and obligation discharge applications.
- Other planning-related tasks as required.
- MRTPI qualified (or working towards, but ideally chartered)
- Experience within a UK planning consultancy or local authority
- Strong knowledge of UK planning policy and development management
- Experience across a range of project types (residential, commercial, mixed-use)
- Confident communicator with strong report writing skills
- Ability to manage workload independently and meet deadlines
- Full UK driving licence preferred
