The Role:
This is a great role for an experienced Highway Measurement Engineer or Quantity Surveyor.
You will work closely with the infrastructure design, transportation and contract management teams to successfully deliver the requirements of the brief, quality standards, health and safety and environmental standards to both national and corporate standards. You will also be applying all project management requirements including clear communications, reporting, financial management and customer relationship management.
Responsibilities for the role:
- Preparation of pre-tender cost estimates including bills of quantities in consultation with the Project designer/Project Manager and/or client.
- Perform risk, value management and cost control. Identify, analyse and develop responses for project commercial risks
- Analyse tender returns and complete financial reporting
- Undertake Principal Contractor valuations in line the NEC and ICE contract protocols
- Prepare activity schedules and evaluate cost control within a programmed delivery
About you: - You will have a degree in quantity surveying (highways) and you will be a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES) or evidence that you are working towards this
- A good level of knowledge of standard highway and civil engineering specifications, conditions of contract and methods of measurement for highway works covering the required JCT, NEC, ICE Contracts
- You will be skilled in the accurate preparation of Bills of Quantity’s within a civil engineering/infrastructure environment, able to ‘read’ all construction drawings for take offs alterations/variations and as built drawings inclusive of steel schedules and technical documentation.
- A good level of IT expertise and experience with Excel/RIPAC and necessary programmes required to complete the tasks required.
- A full UK driving license and able to travel to site in order to undertake on site duties and attend site meetings.
