Job Details

We are working with are a not-for-profit organisation who operate in Bodmin and offer affordable housing across Cornwall.  As a Fire Safety Advisor, the candidate would be expected to provide specialist advice regarding all Fire Safety matters, and to work within a team to identify compliance issues. This position would be in a residential context, and the candidate would need to have in-depth knowledge of Fire Safety and Health and Safety legislation.


Responsibilities

  • Provide Fire Safety technical advice to contractors, tenants and staff
  • Report on all Fire Safety matters
  • Produce Fire Safety Management Strategies for relevant housing stock
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the clients’ Fire Safety policy and procedural documents
  • Inform and educate on Fire Safety issues at tenant resident meetings
  • Monitor and inspect repair and maintenance contract works
  • Ensure approved materials, products and installation procedures are used during repair and maintenance works
  • Prioritise Fire Safety related customer complaints and follow up actions, in accordance with the clients’ timescales and standards
  • Assist in the preparation of Fire Safety related contract tender documentation and assessing of contract tender submissions
  • Ensure that the client is fully compliant with current statutory Fire Safety regulation and guidance
  • Work with local authorities to assist with joint inspections and Fire Safety audits
  • Identify remedies to audit deficiencies, monitor remedial works and report outcomes to the Fire Safety Manager

Requirements
  • Have a thorough knowledge and understanding of legislation, such as Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and Health and Safety Legislation
  • Level 3 Certificate in Fire Safety or equivalent
  • Ideally a member of a professional body, such as IFE, RICS, CIOB
  • IOSH Managing Safely Health and Safety or equivalent
  • Experience of undertaking rick inspections and Fire Safety Assessments
  • Knowledge of guidance documents, such as BS5839, BS5266 and Specialist Housing guide
  • Evidence of CDM qualification
  • Driving license
