Structural Engineer - Bridges
Structural design roles don’t come much better than this!
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Bridge Engineer to join a nationally recognised engineering consultancy. My client has modern offices located Gloucestershire. This business covers a range of disciplines. We are looking for people with experience designing both highway and rail structures from inception to completion.
This role offers a great opportunity to join a successful established team, working alongside some of the best engineers the industry has to offer. It will also bring the opportunity for working on a wide portfolio of major projects across the UK.
Essential
- Minimum of three years’ experience post-graduation in civil engineering design
- Experience of steel and concrete design to Eurocodes
- Experience in computer software for the analysis of structures
- Production of design deliverables – packages of drawings, specifications, etc. and supervision of engineers and BIM/CAD technicians
- Good communication skills both oral and written
Desirable
- Ideally experience of composite steel/concrete, masonry, geotechnical and timber design to Eurocodes
- Experience in the design of rail related structures. (including loading to Eurocodes, element design and detailing to Eurocodes)
- Ideally experience in finite element software for the analysis of structures
- Ability to work on own and within a team to meet project, client, company and personal objectives
- A challenging attitude to the solution of engineering problems in order to achieve cost effective designs and develop innovative solutions
- Awareness of the importance of costs and the need to complete projects on time and to budget
- Willingness to seek advice when unsure of how to tackle problems
Upon joining the business, successful candidates will be expected to largely work on the high profile rail projects across the South West and Midlands which is a fantastic opportunity to work on a cutting edge, high profile local projects. This Responsibilities will include:
- Liaising with clients and contractors
- Undertaking site visits and inspections
- Producing detailed drawings, models and designs
- Working closely with and assisting senior engineers
- Taking part in design team meetings
- Using AutoCAD, REVIT and MICROSTATION
Responsibilities will grow with time and you will be giving every opportunity to gain site experience through site visits and secondment should you wish. All necessary site tickets and qualifications will be provided and you will be actively encouraged to develop yourself. Candidates will need to have a desire to work towards chartered status.
