Senior Transport Planner


We are delighted to be working with an established and respected consultancy, helping them in their next key appointment. We are looking for an experienced Transport Planner who is able to hit the ground running and is looking for a prominent position in a hugely successful practice

Their integrated teams combine knowledge and expertise from a wide variety of sectors. They have worked on some of the UK’s highest profile projects, developing excellent relationships with their clients and winning awards in the process.

The Transport team has developed and grown a wide-ranging portfolio of projects and clients covering a diverse array of schemes of all scales across the UK, which includes residential, health, education, retail, energy, leisure and employment.


 Main Duties and Responsibilities


 

  • To work as a member of a project team
  • Supervise work of Assistant Transport Planners and Transport Planners
  • Assist junior staff in their training and development
  • Undertake technical transport planning tasks as instructed to a high standard and accurately
  • Project and financial management of commissions as instructed
  • Promote the company profile and prepare fee proposals as instructed
  • Maintain project liaison with clients’ staff and others including attendance at meetings
  • Undertake site visits, organise surveys and collect data
  • Prepare draft and final reports
  • Be able to interpret design standards (e.g. DMRB, MfS, etc.) and advise on their application
  • Be competent in use of standard transport modelling software (e.g. JUNCTIONS 9, LinSig)
  • Able to use transport planning databases (e.g. TRICS, TEMPRO, Census)
  • Be competent or working towards competency in use of advanced transport modelling software (e.g. S-PARAMICS, SATURN etc)
  • Able to use Microsoft Office programs (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Understand basic highway design (geometry, visibility, capacity, etc.) and be able to prepare preliminary designs
  • Implement Company QMS and office procedures
  • Knowledge of CDM and SHE procedures
  • Actively working towards a relevant professional qualification
  • Communicate and liaise orally and in writing in a competent manner with the public and relevant staff.
  • Pursue and maintain continuing professional development of knowledge, skills and competence necessary for the effective performance of the role.
  • Be aware of the Company’s policies and fulfil responsibilities towards them.
  • Carry out any other duties commensurate with the post as requested by line manager or Director.
