A dynamic and rapidly growing building services consultancy is seeking an Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer to join their Birmingham team. This role is perfect for an engineer with 2-5 years’ experience who is eager to develop their skills and contribute to diverse projects across education, commercial, healthcare, and residential sectors. You will work alongside a supportive team of electrical and mechanical engineers, gaining exposure to all project stages—from concept design through to installation and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the design and development of electrical building services including power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, data/communications, and security systems
Produce detailed calculations, drawings, and specifications using AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical design software
Collaborate with mechanical engineers and other disciplines to deliver fully coordinated MEP solutions
Support site visits and surveys, including the preparation of technical reports
Ensure designs comply with UK regulations, CIBSE standards, and client requirements
Participate in design reviews, client meetings, and project coordination activities
Develop knowledge of sustainable design principles and low-carbon technologies
Candidate Requirements
Degree or HND/HNC qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services
2-5 years’ experience in electrical building services design, preferably within a consultancy environment
Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical design software (e.g., Amtech, Dialux)
Knowledge of BS 7671 wiring regulations, CIBSE guides, and relevant UK building regulations
Strong communication and teamwork skills

Ability to manage workload effectively and meet project deadlines
