Engineer - Structural Rail

Operating across multiple branches in the UK, this business is a forward thinking Civil, Structural, Geotechnical Engineering and M&E Consultancy working on railway infrastructure, temporary works, buildings, bridges, highways, nuclear and geotechnics. Established since 1981, the business has enjoyed steady growth driven by a committed and highly skilled workforce of 45 employees.


Based not far from the city centre with free parking and great public transport links, this multidisciplinary design consultancy actively encourage all their engineers to diversify their experience. Equal opportunities are available to staff wishing to explore different sectors.


The Engineer role


As an Engineer, you’ll join the close-knit team based in a welcoming and relaxed office, working with other Engineers and Technicians across a wide variety of schemes including bridges, structures and temporary works, within rail, nuclear and building sectors.


 


Your duties will include, although not be limited to:


 

  • Working within a team of Engineers and Technicians, including mentoring junior members
  • Designing civil & structural schemes and checking designs prepared by others, including producing detailed calculations by hand and through computer models.
  • Carrying out inspections, site surveys and assessments of structures and preparing reports
  • Taking ownership of own projects across civils, bridges, rail and complex temporary works
  • Preparing and managing project programmes, workload and resources
  • Liaising with clients to verify project scope and ensure deliverables
 


What will I receive in return?


 


As an Engineer, you would receive a salary in the region of £26,000 to £32,000 - level dependent on experience, plus a range of attractive benefits including:

You’ll be employed on a permanent contract, working 40 hours per week. There is flexibility with start and finish times available however, the core working hours are Monday to Friday 9.30am to 4.30pm.


 


What will I need to be considered for this Engineer vacancy?


To be considered for this Civil Engineer role the following experience is preferable - qualifications, skills, knowledge and attributes;


 
  • Relevant Civil or Structural Engineering degree
  • 1+ years’ experience within the UK Engineering industry
  • Experience working on bridges, with a good adaptable engineering knowledge
  • Experience within the rail or nuclear industry
  • Strong technical knowledge within assessment and design including inspections, calculations and analysis of existing structures and new-build design development
  • Client focused approach with effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Full driving licence and own transport
  • Eligible to live and work in the UK and high standard of written English
